Animals

Welcome to
Post Sunshine Ranch

We were initially founded by June and Bill Post in 1981. The traditions have continued under the ownership of Lynea and Joe Wehinger since 2003. Our ranch is surrounded by nearly 10 acres of beautiful natural farmland. The Ranch was designed with a farm country atmosphere. The school itself resembles a country log cabin, and we try to foster both creativity and a love of the outdoors. The children can play in nearly 2 acres of fenced playground space. They are taken on nature walks and scavenger hunts in some of the additional surrounding lands. Even the youngest get an opportunity to explore the grounds in their covered wagon.

The children have many opportunities to share what they are learning with their parents and caregivers. Each year the children host a Christmas program and a graduation ceremony. We have an annual open house, party days for each holiday, a family Thanksgiving feast and various other opportunities to share with family members.

Our Story

The children at Post Sunshine Ranch grow to become self-confident, enthusiastic learners. Our Ranch is a place for fun, fascination, and friendships. The children at our ranch are given opportunities to interact with the farm animals and care for them. When the ranch gets new animals, the children have naming contests and learn about how to care for these new animals. Education is very exciting at the ranch. Classrooms are individualized to meet the needs of children of all ages.

Learning

Children are taught not only basic skills of print knowledge, phonological awareness, oral language and mathematics but also valuable life lessons like manners, social skills, toilet training, and sharing. In our country kitchen, children learn to make homemade butter, follow-take home recipes, and many more fun craft related food recipes. A garden plot planted with seasonal crops teaches the responsibilities of gardening and the wonders of watching things grow.

Philosophy

Our goal is to provide a safe and happy place for children to learn and grow physically, emotionally, intellectually, and socially at their own pace. We believe children learn through play and benefit from a structured yet flexible schedule. Activities will be offered, which stimulate sensory-motor development, language development, and social interaction. The development of healthy self-esteem is also an important goal. Children are taught to respect each other, adults, and property.
